A Story for Another Day

It was approaching 5 o’clock and the autumn sun had already begun to set. Street lights were beginning to blink on for the evening and shadows danced across the street. She laughed and tucked her hair behind her ear. He smiled briefly at her.

“So, how did you get here?” he asked. Her smile faded and she turned her head away from him to look out the window. “Ah, it’s one of that. I know that look from you.” He took a step closer to her. “A story for another day?” he asked.

“Yes,” she smiled weakly, turning back to him, “a story for another day.”
